Two Accused Of Torching Officer's Truck

Last updated on Thursday, July 26, 2012

(MARSHALL, Ill.) - Robert Snavely and Michael Poland of Marshall, Illinois are charged with committing arson. They appeared in the Clark County Court Wednesday.

Attorneys for the state said that the two set a Marshall Police officer's personal truck on fire. That fire spread to his house.

Officials believe that the two were trying to retaliate after receiving a noise citation earlier in the night. They said the two poured gasoline on the truck, and then set it on fire. Fortunately, no one was injured.

However, officials said the two got the wrong house. Another officer had actually issued the citation. News 10 spoke with the two accused as they left the courtroom. They both maintain their innocence.

"We didn't have anything to do with it. But it will come out, you know it'll come out in the trial," Poland said.

They're being held in the Clark County Jail on $100,000 bond. Their next court date is scheduled for August 6.
