State Fair Settlement Deal Extended

Last updated on Thursday, July 12, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The deadline for acceptance of the $13.2-million dollar state fair disaster settlement offer has been extended to August first.

A spokesman for the attorney general's office says some of the plaintiffs asked for more time to consider the offer. The original deadline was this Friday.

The state and two defendants, Mid-America Sound Corporation and James Thomas Engineering, are asking plaintiffs to accept a share of the offer in return for release from liability.

The victims and victim families can choose to pursue their lawsuits, but Attorney General Greg Zoeller is telling them that could take years with no guarantee of payment.
