(FRANKLIN) - An Indianapolis woman who works at a Johnson County assisted living facility faces criminal charges after a resident said she stole a diamond ring off her finger.

Citing police, the Daily Journal reports that Necilda Davis, 44, Indianapolis, faces a preliminary charge of theft after a resident of the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin reported her diamond engagement ring was missing and she believed a worker at the home had stolen it.

Police said they discovered through a tracking website that Davis sold a ring at an Indianapolis pawn shop the day after the theft was reported.

Investigators said when confronted, Davis said the resident had told her she could borrow the ring, then changed her story, saying she had taken the ring because she needed the money.

Davis was released from the Johnson County Jail on $3,000 bond.
