(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis man who fired shots inside his grandfather's east side church has been sentenced to two years home detention.

Calvin Griffin was convicted of criminal recklessness and carrying a handgun without a license following the April 2012 incident.

Griffin was sentenced to two years home detention for criminal recklessness. He also received 90 days for carrying a handgun without a license, which will be served concurrently.

Griffin turned to using a handgun to force his grandfather to hear his side of a story concerning the issue of stealing. His grandfather immediately ran out of the church and called 911.

After barricading himself in the church, Griffin surrendered to the police following a 4-hour standoff.

Griffin told Fox59 that he tried on numerous occasions to talk to his grandfather in person, but was denied. While incarcerated, Griffin had the conversation he wanted with his grandfather.
