Last updated on Friday, July 13, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A motorcyclist was killed in an apparent hit-and-run accident at the intersection of 12th and Meridian streets.

The accident happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday, when the northbound car collided with the southbound motorcycle while trying to make a left turn at the intersection.

Police are searching for a dark green, older model Oldsmobile, possibly a Delta 88, that hit the motorcycle then fled the scene. Police said the vehicle might have had three females in it.

Police said the motorcyclist was taken to Methodist Hospital where he died a short time later.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, investigators said.
