(GREENSBURG) - A Greensburg mother who pleaded guilty to killing her 12-year-old son was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Friday.
Devin Parsons was found dead June 3, 2011, days after a case worker with the Department of Child Services had visited the family's home.
Parsons' mother, Tasha Parsons, 30, later admitted to using her hands, feet, a belt and a metal tray to beat her son over a period of several hours while her boyfriend, Waldo Jones Jr., watched, police said.
Tasha Parsons told investigators that the boy had taken some Percocet pills and would not tell her where to find them, officials said. She also claimed that Jones participated in the beating.
Jones is expected to stand trial on Oct. 29.
