(CONNERSVILLE) - A historic building in downtown Connersville caught fire Saturday afternoon.

A resident who lives on the second floor of the building at 613 1/2 Central Ave. called 911 just before 2:30 p.m. to report the fire.

That person was able to escape safely.

Crews from six fire departments in Fayette County were called in to battle the blaze.

There is at least one business on the first floor of the building, but it did not appear to be occupied.

No injuries were reported.
