Bagley said he's had problems with coyotes and shot at what he thought was a coyote moving along the woodline.
Brandon Spangler, 17, of Flushing, Mich., was engaged in paintball activities on private property in when he was shot and subsequently died.
Bagley, who is friends with Spangler's father, Mark Spangler, of Greenwood, said he had given the family permission to use the area for a game of paintball, but said he didn't know four teens were on the land at the time.
