City Pool Reopens After Chemical Scare

Last updated on Thursday, June 28, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Garfield Park pool is open again. Park pool managers say they’re confident the pool is safe again.

They say they've revised procedures and about 15 lifeguards have been refreshed on pool operations.

Upwards of 80 people were overcome by a chemical mixture last week when a lifeguard left a pool valve closed.

Terri Harold and son Charles were the first ones back in the pool Wednesday. Harold says she's convinced that proper precautions have been taken. Charles says he was just happy to leap into the pool without having to wait on line first.

Managers say the heatwave means capacity crowds should return to the pool this week. They say dozens of personal citywide have been informed about revised procedures at all city pools.
