(AVON) - The chemical spill situation at the CSX Rail Yard in Avon is improving at this hour.

Jim Scott of WISH TV reports that earlier this morning a tanker carrying a flammable liquid called Isobutylene began leaking on the south side of the rail yard.

Most of the Hendricks County fire crews have now been released from the scene. Some will remain as the clean-up continues.

CSX crews in full self-contained breathing gear have gained access to the tanker and are working to mitigate what they are now calling a small leak of the flammable liquid.

The tanker car is still attached to a few other rail cars but is in an isolated area of the CSX Avon rail yard.

The leak is believed to be confined to base of the tanker.

Other train traffic is being allowed to move into and out of the train yard.

Avon fire crews continue to monitor the air in the surrounding area and report no dangerous levels being detected as yet.

No homes in the nearby neighborhoods have been evacuated and there are no reports of injuries.
