9-Year-Old Abducted Then Released

Last updated on Saturday, June 2, 2012

(FORT WAYNE) - Fort Wayne police are investigating a report of a child abduction that happened Thursday evening near Boone and Osage Streets. That’s close to Nebraska Elementary School.

According to officers, a nine-year-old girl said she was riding her bike near that intersection just before 6:00 when a blue full-size van pulled up next to her and a man got out.

She told police the man grabbed her, forced her inside the van, and then drove her to the 3800 block of Wenonah Lane, which is about four miles away. At that point she said he let her go.

The girl flagged down a passerby who contacted police.

The van is described as blue to light blue in color with a sun roof and tan leather seats.

Police said the man is described as being white, 20- to 30-years-old, with blonde or light brown hair in a buzz cut. He is clean shaven, muscular, and was wearing a gray v-neck tank top and dark blue jean shorts.

He also has a tattoo featuring a heart with vines and a tattoo of a skull with crossed eyes and the word "love" written underneath it.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department at 260-427-1222.
