(INDIANAPOLIS) - A 2-year-old boy who police said suffered head injuries at the hands of his stepmother has died.
The boy died Sunday at Riley Hospital for Children, the Marion County Coroner's Office said.
The boy was hospitalized May 20 after being found unconscious in the family's southwest side home, police said.
The boy's stepmother, Autumn Dunn, 29, was arrested on preliminary charges of battery and neglect.
Those charges could be upgraded now that the boy has died.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
