(MONTGOMERY COUNTY) - Authorities said a possible tornado damaged a house and a grain bin in Montgomery County.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department said a possible tornado touched down about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night near New Ross and caused the damage.

Authorities reported two barns ripped to shreds by the strong winds. Flying aluminum siding and debris was caught in trees and power lines.

Trees were uprooted and landed on farming equipment and vehicles, RTV6's Ericka Flye reported.

Despite the powerful winds, Sheriff Mark Casteel said homes in the area were still standing.

"Obviously, you feel for the families because you're having to deal with cleaning this up, but they have a lot of help. The fire department is helping and neighbors are lending a hand," Casteel said.

There's no immediate confirmation of the tornado by the National Weather Service.

New Ross is about 30 miles northwest of Indianapolis.

No injuries were reported.
