Police: Man Tried To Abduct Boy From School

Last updated on Thursday, May 31, 2012

(BUNKER HILL) - A Logansport man has been arrested after he tried to abduct a 6-year-old boy from school, police said.

Daniel J. Higginbotham, 24, walked into Pipe Creek Elementary School in Bunker Hill on Tuesday and told a kindergarten student to come with him, police said.

A YMCA day care worker confronted Higginbotham and determined that he was not connected to the child or his family, police said.

Higginbotham left the school without the boy and was arrested a short time later.

Police said the child was not touched or harmed.

Higginbotham was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal confinement and criminal trespass on school property.
