(LEBANON) - A man convicted of murdering his father, stepmother and twin brother learned his fate on Thursday at a sentencing.
Boone County prosecutors said Barney Chamorro, 21, killed his stepmother, Judy Schindler; Alejandro Chamorro Sr.; and his twin brother, Alejandro Chamorro Jr, in 2010 at the family's home in Whitestown, about 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis.
On Thursday, Barney Chamorro was sentenced to serve three consecutive life sentences without parole.
His stepmother's sister, Charlene Horne, said Chamorro deserved his sentence.
"This was a very brutal slaying of three people. It's been very hard on my family," she said.
Horne said she believes Chamorro's rage was directed toward his father, RTV6's Ericka Flye reported.
"His father made him hold a job, go to school and pay rent. He had a lot of animosity toward his father," Horne said.
Prosecutor Todd Meyer said society is safer with Chamorro behind bars.
"To kill your own father, to kill your twin brother, to kill your stepmother, as I argued during the case, if you're capable of doing that, you're capable of doing anything," Meyer said.
During his sentencing, Chamorro remained silent.
"Through this whole thing, there has been no remorse," Horne said. "There's not been, 'I'm sorry for what I've done.' I mean, he deserves what he got."
Family members said in the days leading up to the stabbing, Chamorro had become hard to get along with after losing his job, and they wanted to send him back to Nicaragua.
