Indianapolis Woman Arrested After Attempting To Smuggle Drugs Into Jail

(CARLISLE) - According to a news release, an Indianapolis woman in jail accused of attempting to traffick marijuana into the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility.

22-year-old Ashlynn Na Shae Davis came to the facility shortly after 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Correctional Police Officer Carl Lemons, acting on gathered contraband intelligence, intercepted Davis at visitor processing. During questioning Davis reached behind her back and retrieved a article that held 39.8 grams of marijuana.

Lemons arrested Davis on a preliminary charge of attempting to traffick with an Inmate, a Class C Felony. Davis was transported by Deputy Sheriff Carl Melchert to the Sullivan County Jail.

Bond has been set at $15,000. The name of the offender Davis planned to visit has not been released, pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.
