Fishers Parents On Alert After Attempted Abduction

Last updated on Wednesday, May 23, 2012

(FISHERS) - A Fishers neighborhood remains on edge after reports of an attempted abduction last Friday.

Fishers Police said about 7:30 p.m., they received a 911 call from a mother in the Brooks Chase subdivision. She told police a man tried to lure her 8-year-old daughter into his car near 136th Street and Brooks School Road.

"The child was playing in the driveway at the time, and the strange man drove up in a black Toyota Camry. He parked alongside of the road and rolled down his window and yelled out to the 8-year-old," said Fishers Police spokesman Tom Weger.

The girl was not harmed, RTV6's Jenna Kooi reported.

Police still haven't found the suspect or his car and some residents said they are wondering if he lives in the neighborhood.

"There has been information given that he's been seen in the area prior to this incident," Weger said.

Sondra Wissel lives in the neighborhood and said she and her husband noticed suspicious activity on their street.

"My husband and I talked the other night about him seeing a car sitting right outside our house, which is a few doors down," she said.

Investigators said the suspicious man is described as white, 30 to 40 years old, with a thin build and dirty blond hair.

The vehicle was described as a late 2000 model black Toyota Camry.

Fishers police asked anyone with any information about suspicious activity in the neighborhood to call 317-595-3300.
