Last updated on Wednesday, May 23, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Vigo County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver of a tractor-trailer involved in a fatal crash on May 16 in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the 12 mile marker.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. last Wednesday when one tractor-trailer was rear-ended by a another tractor-trailer loaded with produce.

"The victims were entrapped in the wreckage, deceased, for 90 minutes as their recovery was hampered by the tremendous crush damage and subsequent fire," said Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts.

The coroner identified the driver as Alfonso Ochoa Diaz, 60, of River Rouge, Mich.

The driver of the other tractor-trailer was not seriously injured, police said.

Investigators said they were still working to identify the female passenger.
