Last updated on Friday, April 27, 2012

(CUMBERLAND) - Cumberland Police arrested two people Thursday after two children were found alone in an east side apartment.

Det. Vince Semona of CPD says employees of Berkshire Square Apartments were conducting routine inspections of the property and entered an apartment where they found two children alone.

Police were called, and officers took the children, aged four months and two-years-old, into protective custody. Medical personnel examined the children at the scene and found them to be uninjured.

Officers believe the children were alone for at least two hours

While officers were at the scene, Clarissa Brewer and Bruce Daniel returned to the apartment. Semona says each stand to be charged with two counts of felony neglect of a dependent.

Investigators learned that Brewer and Daniel had been shopping at an east side Wal-Mart.
