(WESTPORT, Ill.) - A body found near a Lawrence County levee has been tentatively identified by police authorities.
The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office said, late Monday, a man's body was found along a levee near Westport, Ill.
Illinois State Police immediately took over the investigation.
The sheriff's office confirmed the body had been tentatively identified as Elmer Larry Joe Simison, 57, of Vincennes.
Police said Simison had been missing from Vincennes for almost a month.
The investigation is ongoing.
