Person Flees Accident That Left One Dead

(PARKE COUNTY) - The Parke County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a man who left the scene of a car accident that killed one person.

According to the Sheriff's Department, officers responded to a single car accident near the intersection of Rosedale Road and Jefferies Ford Road in Parke County at about 11 p.m.

Jaclyn Bevis, of WTHI, reports the 911 caller said the car drove off an embankment and flipped on its top where the Jefferies Ford Covered Bridge once stood.

The driver of the vehicle left the scene. Deputies found two other individuals near the Rosedale Road and Jefferies Ford Road intersection. They were taken to Union Hospital in Clinton for minor injuries. They have both been released.

When Deputies arrived at the accident scene, they located an unresponsive person inside the vehicle. That individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Parke County Sheriff's Department isn't releasing any names at this time. They are still searching for the driver of the car. If you have any information, contact the Parke County Sheriff's Office.
