(INDIANAPOLIS) - A state judicial commission is looking for a new judge for the Indiana Court of Appeals.

Judge Carr Darden will retire this summer, creating a vacancy on the 15-member court. Darden was named to the court in 1994 by then-Gov. Evan Bayh.

Applications for the position are available online. Applications are due May 9th.

The Judicial Nominating Commission will search for Darden's replacement. The commission will conduct initial public interviews in Indianapolis on May 15th through 17th, followed by second interviews on June 4th and 5th.

Following closed deliberations, the panel will publicly vote to send the three most qualified names to Governor Mitch Daniels, who will make the appointment.
