(INDIANAPOLIS) - A judge is expected to sentence a man to life in prison without parole plus 40 years for the shooting death of an Indianapolis police officer during a routine traffic stop last year.
That's the sentence that 61-one year-old Thomas Hardy accepted when he agreed to plead guilty last month to the murder of Officer David Moore and additional charges of robbery and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
Marion Superior Court Judge Mark Stoner has accepted the plea agreement in which Hardy avoids the death penalty. Stoner was set to sentence Hardy on Thursday.
At the time of the shooting, Hardy was on parole but facing theft charges from a November 2010 arrest.
