Indiana Man Ran Cocaine Ring In Indiana & Kentucky

Last updated on Friday, April 13, 2012

(JEFFERSONVILLE) - An Indiana man who federal prosecutors say was the leader of a multi-state cocaine trafficking ring has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Judge Tanya Walton Pratt also ordered 47-year-old Jesse K. Bottoms, Sr. of Sellersburg to forfeit more than $37,000 after he pleaded guilty during a hearing Thursday. U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett announced the sentencing at a news conference in Jeffersonville.

Hogsett says Bottoms was part of a ring that operated for two years in Louisville, Ky., and southern Indiana. Bottoms was the 15th defendant to be sentenced in the case, with three additional defendants awaiting sentencing.

The suspects were indicted in September 2010 after officers served search warrants in Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois and seized 10 ounces of cocaine, $82,000 in cash and 30 firearms.
