Holiday World Officials Getting Ready For A Mammoth Summer

Last updated on Monday, April 2, 2012

(SANTA CLAUS) - When Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari open for the 2012 Season in May, the park will unveil the world’s largest water coaster - the Mammoth.

Park visitors will find the Mammoth next to the Wildebeest, the park's first water coaster, built in 2010. At 1,763 feet, Mammoth is slightly more than 50 feet longer than the Wildebeest.

The Mammoth covers three acres with a conveyor-style lift hill and a five-story first drop. It will feature two kinds of rafts: eight-person toboggan-style and a six-person circular model.
Riders will be able to choose which type of raft they prefer. Wildebeest is able to carry up to 700 riders per hour, while Mammoth will have a capacity of 1,100 per hour.

Holiday World opens May 5. Splashin' Safari, including the Mammoth, opens May 11.
