State Extends Aid To The Military

Last updated on Thursday, March 15, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor Mitch Daniels is signing off on a plan to give military families more aid.

According to the Associated Press the new law will extend the time military families can receive aid from the state's Military Family Relief Fund from one year to three.

The governor signed the measure into law Wednesday. Indiana lawmakers in the House and Senate gave unanimous approval to the measure earlier this year.

As of last August the state had distributed $751,000 from the fund to 262 families. Money is raised through the sale of Hoosier Veteran, POW/MIA and Support Our Troops license plates.
