Second Man Who Escaped From Wabash County Jail Surrenders

Last updated on Wednesday, March 28, 2012

(WABASH) -Both inmates who escaped from a northern Indiana county jail this month are back in custody.

Wabash County Sheriff Bob Land says 48-year-old Chance Hanaway, of Peru, surrendered to officers at the jail Tuesday night.

Land says Hanaway and 28-year-old Aaron Scott Perry of Wabash had been washing cars in the jail's garage area when they fled about 2 a.m. March 17. Perry was taken into police custody on Sunday.

The sheriff says the search for the two men involved several agencies, including the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force.

Both men had been jailed on theft charges since late last year.
