(INDIANAPOLIS) - Rolls-Royce Corp. will spend $42 million to turn a vacant building near Indianapolis International Airport into a new manufacturing plant the British engine maker said will create 100 new jobs by 2014.

Rolls-Royce announced Tuesday it will install a new production line at the AmeriPlex Industrial Park.

The Indianapolis Business Journal reports the new plant will produce compressed banded stators, which are stationary sets of blades mounted around a jet engine to handle air flow off the rotors. Those components will go into the Trent XWB, a civil aircraft engine that powers the Airbus A350 XWB, which is scheduled to fly for the first time in 2013.

Rolls-Royce said the plant will also produce components for the Trent 1000, AE engine series and T56 turboprop engines.
