Ison Gets Life Without Parole Sentence

Last updated on Thursday, March 15, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS)- David Ison will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to killing five people in the rural Franklin County community of Laurel.

Ison, who was charged in October with five counts of murder, was sentenced in a Franklin County court Wednesday morning to a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Ison was charged after the September deaths of 50-year-old Roy Napier; his estranged wife, 47-year-old Angela Napier; their children, 23-year-old Melissa Napier, and 18-year-old Jacob Napier; and family friend 43-year-old Henry Smith.

According to WISH TV although he originally pleaded not guilty, Ison in February changed his plea to guilty for all five murder charges. The plea change wasn't part of a plea agreement; Ison voluntarily changed his plea.
