Kokomo Woman Hurt After Crashing Into Retention Pond

Last updated on Saturday, March 17, 2012

(KOKOMO) - A Kokomo woman was critically hurt when her car crashed into a retention pond Friday night.

Police say Beth Leonard, 51, was driving north on Albright Road near Colter Drive when, for an unknown reason, she drove off the east side of the road into a retention pond approximately 40 feet from the roadway.

Firefighters responding to the scene found Leonard unconscious inside her car. She was taken by ambulance to Howard Regional Hospital and was later taken by air ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition.

Police continue to investigate the crash, but believe a medical issue may have contributed to the crash.
