(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor Daniels says he welcomes a proposed study committee to review the performance of the Department of Child Services, but he's lambasting critics he says have tried to make political hay out of it.
The House unanimously approved a study committee this week after initial resistance from Republicans who said if any changes are needed, they can be made faster through informal discussions with the department.
House democrats had demanded a review after published reports of children who died of abuse after DCS had closed investigations.
The Senate must agree to the proposed study panel next week.
