(INDIANAPOLIS) - Gov. Mitch Daniels wants more federal aid to cover costs from the March 2nd tornadoes across southern Indiana.

Daniels has asked President Barack Obama to provide funds to state and local governments for police, fire and other emergency expenses.

The Courier Journal reported Wednesday that Daniels also has asked for help with cleanup of debris and repair or replacement of public facilities damaged by the tornadoes in Clark, Jefferson, Ripley, Scott and Washington counties.

If approved, the federal government could help pay for at least 75 percent of government disaster expenses.

Obama has approved federal aid for homeowners, renters and businesses in those five counties as well as for those in Warrick County for storm damage days earlier.

Daniels says he may seek aid for Warrick County later.
