Three High School Staff Members Accused Of Child Seduction

Last updated on Wednesday, February 29, 2012

(PUTNAM COUNTY) - Three staff members at North Putnam High School have been arrested and accused of inappropriate conduct with the same 16-year-old student.

State police began investigating in January after reports of sexual contact between Nicholas A. Vester, 24, of Lafayette; Craig E. Rogers, 24, of Indianapolis; and Brandon D. Largent, 20, of Crawfordsville, and an underage male student.

Police said that on multiple occasions between October and January, the staff members separately engaged in various acts of a sexual nature with the student.

The incidents took place on school property after hours and away from school, police said, and the men also sent text messages and photographs to the teenager.

Vester, Rogers and Largent were all employed in "various teaching and/or leadership roles within the school," state police said.

The Greencastle Banner-Graphic reported that Rogers is the North Putnam High School band director and has been on paid administrative leave since the investigation began.

Vester was a substitute Spanish teacher at the school for 12 weeks and Largent was a paid lifeguard and volunteer swim instructor since November, the newspaper reported.

The men were preliminarily charged with one count each of child seduction, a Class D felony.

Vester, Rogers and Largent were being held without bond Tuesday night. They are expected to appear in court today.
