Police Investigate VU Student Death

(VINCENNES) - Police continue to investigate the death of a Vincennes University student.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the death of a 19-year-old.

William Torrance was a freshman at Vincennes University studying Welding Technology.

Police believe the Bargersville, Indiana native was a pledge at an area fraternity Delta Gamma Iota, that isn't recognized by the school.

On Thursday night Torrance and others attended a fraternity organized bid night membership event at 612 Perry Street in Vincennes.

Around 9 O'clock Friday morning, Torrance was found unresponsive. He died at the scene.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The findings of the investigation will be turned over to the Knox County Prosecutor to decide if criminal charges will be filed.
