(BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY)- A traffic stop in Bartholomew County turned into a drug bust when troopers discovered cocaine and marijuana in a secret compartment, police said.

The car, driven by Andre Bailey, of Louisville, Ky., 39, was stopped just after 10 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 65 near the 57 mile marker for a window tint violation.

When the trooper approached the driver, he said the car smelled of marijuana and that Bailey had what appeared to be pot on the front of his shirt.

Troopers searched the vehicle and found a fabricated latch hidden in the back panel on the passenger side of the car with electrical wires inside.

When jumped with a battery, the wires opened a hidden, electronically controlled trap that allowed access inside the panel, where troopers found two kilos of cocaine, police said.

A handgun and drug paraphernalia were also found in the vehicle, police said.

Bailey was arrested and preliminarily charged with dealing in cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon, possession of marijuana with a prior convictions and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction.

Bailey was being held Wednesday at the Bartholomew County Jail.
