Indianapolis Man Sentenced After Setting Girlfriend On Fire

Last updated on Thursday, February 2, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis man was found guilty of attempted murder for setting his girlfriend on fire in April 2011.

Quinn Nelson, 31, was found guilty for dousing his girlfriend, Rebecca Mumaw, with lighter fluid and then setting her ablaze.

Police said the incident occurred in front of Mumaw's east side home.

In an interview with Fox59, Nelson denied setting Mumaw on fire. However, he did admit he was carrying a can of lighter fluid in his pocket at the time of his arrest.

Mumaw suffered serious burns that covered 40 percent of her torso and face.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 2.
