(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor Mitch Daniels says he will not run for president even in the event of a brokered convention.

A brokered convention is declared in the event that none of the presidential candidates receive enough votes to carry a particular political party's nomination.

Once a brokered convention is declared, each state's delegates are released from their initial votes and are allowed to cast a vote for another candidate in hopes of awarding enough votes for the nomination.

Daniels says in the case of a brokered convention he hopes to be one to help find a solution. Daniels is thought to be a popular alternative to the current GOP candidates an alternative that could potentially secure the nomination.

However filing deadlines to get Daniels' name on the ballot have passed in several states including Indiana.
