(MUNCIE) - A man was arrested over the weekend on a burglary charge after investigators tracked a set of keys and false teeth that belonged to him.
Joshua Slagle, 41, of Charlotte, N.C., was arrested at a Muncie motel after some detective work led investigators to him.
Muncie police said they were called to the Muncie Christian Center in the 1800 block of South Walnut Street on Saturday after the pastor reported a break-in. The only thing reported missing was a coat, but police said there was evidence someone tried to pry open an interior door.
The pastor's son told police that a set of keys was found in the church, including a Marsh supermarket card, keys to a Ford vehicle and what appeared to be an apartment or motel key.
When police retrieved the keys on Sunday, the pastor's son told investigators he also found a set of false teeth outside the church's back door.
One of the keys had a number tagged to it, and investigators thought it might belong to a motel nearby.
A manager at the Muncie Inn said the key was to a room there, and an officer said he saw a man, later identified as Slagle, loading items into a pickup truck outside that room.
Police said Slagle admitted the keys and teeth were his and told them that he had been drugged at Joker's Wild, a gentleman's club.
"The next thing I remember is waking up in that church," Slagle was quoted as saying in a police report. "I don't know how I got into that church. I woke up in there, and it was like a maze. I couldn't find my way out."
Police said Slagle admitted taking the coat when he left the church.
