Cat Stuck 8 Days In Tree Rescued

Last updated on Friday, February 10, 2012

(LAWRENCE)- A cat that spent eight days stuck in a tree was rescued Wednesday after some Lawrence neighbors pulled together.

The orange and white tabby was spotted last week two stories up in a tree near Richart and 54th streets.

Neighbors said they tried coaxing the animal down with food and water, but nothing seemed to work.

They called RTV6 on Wednesday and Bill's Tree Service agreed to try and reach the cat.
Crews used ropes to scale the tree and were able to safely secure the cat and bring it back down to the ground.

The cat will be checked out by a local veterinarian. Neighbors said they will find a home for the animal if his owner can't be found.
