Last updated on Monday, February 20, 2012

(CLARKS HILL)- A Tippecanoe County barn fire took the lives of 36 goats that were being raised by 4-H Club members.

Officials said the early morning fire sparked Saturday near Clarks Hill, about 45 miles northwest of Indianapolis and killed the goats that were being raised by 11 members of the Lauramie Willing Workers 4-H Club.

Club member Kenzie Neidigh said she lost 20 goats, including four newborns. Neidigh and her family got a call around 1:30 a.m. Saturday saying the barn had been engulfed in flames.

Two horses escaped the fire, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
