Top Indiana Budget Official Stepping Down

Last updated on Tuesday, January 10, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Gov. Mitch Daniels’ top budget official is stepping down after being part of the Indiana governor’s administration since he took office seven years ago.

Daniels' office announced Monday that Christopher Ruhl would leave his position as director of the Office of Management and Budget on Jan. 20. He'll become chief financial officer at Ivy Tech Community College.

State Budget Agency director Adam Horst will take over the OMB position while keeping his budget director responsibilities.

Daniels said in a statement that Ruhl has been an effective advocate for Indiana taxpayers and that he's grateful for his time in state government.

Ruhl was OMB's policy director and general counsel for two years before becoming budget agency director in 2007 and then OMB director in 2010.
