Terre Haute Man To Face Charges After Standoff With Police

Last updated on Friday, January 6, 2012

(TERRE HAUTE) - The man at the center of Tuesday’s standoff with police will face charges.

What exactly those charges will be has yet to be decided.

Vigo County deputies arrested 31-year-old Michael Wilson after a standoff with police.

The Terre Haute Police Special Response Team forced their way into the home of Wilson's father as the upstairs was on fire.

Officers believed the elder Wilson was inside and possibly harmed.Once Wilson was taken into custody, firefighters found his father's body in the garage.

Sheriff Greg Ewing says despite the large number of public safety officers on scene, communication went smoothly, allowing everyone to do their jobs safely.

"We have it very nice here in Vigo County that all agencies, whether it's police, fire, or ems, we all work well together. And when it's time to come together, it's a pretty well-oiled machine."

Vigo County Coroner Dr. Roland Kohr says Mike Wilson died from cardiac causes.

He also says its possible the domestic dispute with his son may have triggered the cardiac problems, however that would be difficult to prove.
