Last updated on Monday, January 30, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Fifteen people have applied to become the next justice on the Indiana Supreme Court. The court on Friday released a list of applicants for the vacancy that will be created when Chief Justice Randall Shepard retires in March.

The list includes seven woman and eight men. Five are trial judges and one is a judge on the Indiana Courts of Appeals. The rest are attorneys. The applications will be posted on the Supreme Court's website this week.

The seven-member Nominating Commission will conduct public interviews of the candidates in Indianapolis on Feb. 8th through the 10th and second interviews two weeks later.

Governor Mitch Daniels will select the justice from among three nominees. The Commission will then select the new chief justice.
