Nurse Practitioner and ISU Instructor Arrested On Perscription Fraud

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A nurse practitioner and college instructor was arrested Tuesday for allegedly trying to pass off a fraudulent prescription at a Terre Haute pharmacy.

A pharmacist at the Walgreen's at 13 th Street and Wabash Avenue called police Tuesday afternoon when Amy Holbert, 40, tried to fill a prescription for Buprenorphine, a drug sometimes used to treat opiate addiction.

Police told the pharmacist that the prescription was fraudulent.

Holbert was arrested and faces a felony charge of prescription fraud.

Holbert works as an adjunct instructor at Indiana State University.

A university spokesman declined to comment on the matter Wednesday afternoon.
According to police records, investigators confiscated three bottles of Buprenorphine pills.
