(HARRISON CRAWFORD STATE FOREST) - Indiana Conservation Officers resumed their search for Kevin Eve, who was last seen on October 1st, 2010.
Conservation Officers utilized an Indiana State Police helicopter to conduct an aerial search, since most foliage has dropped from the trees in the state forest. Cadaver dogs from Louisville, KY were used to check the entrances of nearby caves as well. Both the aerial and ground searches were unsuccessful in turning up any clues.
Eve's vehicle was found on a rural road in the Harrison Crawford State Forest on October 3rd, 2010. Indiana Conservation Officers suspended the search in December, after intensive efforts by multiple agencies and volunteers. Eve was a known spelunker who was familiar with the caves in the area in which his vehicle was located.
Eve has been entered into "NAMUS" (National Missing and Unidentified Persons System), a database administered by the National Institute of Justice. Although all missing persons have been entered into NCIC (National Crime Information Center), NAMUS is a relatively new system that allows for very detailed information to be entered, thus, is a valuable tool for law enforcement officers and citizens, nation-wide. NAMUS maintains a website, www.namus.gov.
No new information has surfaced regarding Eve since the search has been suspended. Although a formal, organized search is no longer underway, Conservation Officers continue to follow any and all leads regarding Eve's whereabouts.
