Traffic Stop Leads To Huge Marijuana Bust

Last updated on Thursday, December 15, 2011

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A routine traffic stop on I-70 led to a large marijuana bust.

An Indiana state police trooper pulled over a mini-van on eastbound I-70 in Indianapolis for a traffic violation Wednesday.

A search of the vehicle revealed 80 packages of alleged marijuana located inside the gas tank. The marijuana weighed out to about 75 pounds and has a street value of approximately $75,000 dollars.

38-year-old Edgar Cornejo of McAllen Texas was arrested and faces two felony charges of dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana.

Police say the marijuana was probably on its way from Texas to Toledo, Ohio.
