(SHELBYVILLE) - The Shelby County Sheriff Department is investigating the death of an inmate that occurred earlier Friday morning.
The inmate was discovered during a security check around 7 a.m at the Shelby County Jail. The male inmate was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the inmate's death is pending autopsy results. The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of his family.
