(SEYMOUR) (AP) - A southern Indiana city’s police department has decided against modifying its shooting range that was closed after evidence of a stray bullet leaving the range.
City officials in Seymour have approved a plan to have the police department pay about $15,000 for building and shooting range improvements at a hunting club in rural Jackson County.
Police Chief Bill Abbott tells The Tribune of Seymour that the department faced spending $500,000 to build a new shooting range.
The department closed the shooting range at the Freeman Field airport in May after a video was posted on YouTube in which a stray bullet can be heard going past people excavating at the airport for World War II artifacts.
