Payroll Tax Important To Hoosiers, Says Donnelly

Last updated on Tuesday, December 13, 2011

(UNDATED) - Senator Richard Lugar and his democratic opponent, Congressman Joe Donnelly, agree a payroll tax cut extension is important to Hoosiers and needs to be done as quickly as possible.

Donnelly says lawmakers should stay in Washington D.C. as long as it takes, even through the holidays, to get the legislation passed. Lugar says the house could take up the bill as early as Tuesday.

Donnelly says the tax puts, on average, $1,200 into the pockets of Hoosier families.

Donnelly says the bill is important enough to be dealt with on its own, rather than lumping other legislation with it.
