Man Arrested After Trying To Escape Out Window

(COLUMBUS) - 28-year-old Andy J. Hounshell, labeled the most-wanted fugitive by local authorities was arrested after he tried to slip away from police through a window at a Columbus apartment complex.

Hounshell was wanted on warrants from Bartholomew, Shelby and Hancock counties when police captured him late Thursday at Cambridge Square Apartments.

Columbus Police received an anonymous tip Thursday night saying Hounshell could be found at the apartments.

Officers went to the apartment at 9:09 p.m. and surrounded the building. When police knocked on the front door, Hounshell was trying to get out of apartment's window.

Hounshell went back inside and officers arrested him on the warrants and a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Class D felony.

In Bartholomew County, Hounshell was wanted on a warrant and body attachment charging him with failure to appear in court on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under the influence and a small claims issue.

Shelby County authorities had issued a warrant charging Hounshell with failure to appear in court on charges of identity deception and driving while suspended.

In Hancock County, Hounshell was wanted on two warrants charging him with dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana and failure to appear in court on a driving while suspended charge.
